ESI International the leading provider of project management and
business analysis training, today announced it had been chosen to
provide training for best practice in project management for Qatar
Telecom (Qtel), the exclusive telecommunications provider in the
Gulf state. Coming hard on the heels of ESI’s contract win from
Dubai’s Nakheel, their appointment by Qtel is a further indication
of ESI’s continued growth and influence throughout the Middle East.
Alan Garvey, Managing Director of ESI International, EMEA, commented,
"Qtel adds to the variety of markets we serve and demonstrates
the quality and flexibility of ESI’s training. We offer customised
programmes that are truly unique to each of our customers, which
are delivered by instructors that have a solid understanding of
the industry and of individual business needs.”
Qtel selected ESI for its experience in corporate-wide project
management training and its unrivalled reputation for quality in
the performance improvement industry. ESI will train project managers
with a wide range of skill sets and responsibility, ranging from
managers with less than three years of experience on projects worth
up to US$ 2 million to experienced project managers directing projects
worth more than US$15 million. During 2007, ESI expects to train
more than 100 of Qtel’s key project managers.
Qtel is committed to growing its presence throughout the Middle
East and internationally. In 2004, Qtel led a consortium and won
the public tender for the second mobile license in Oman, and launched
its Nawras subsidiary services in March 2005, capturing more than
500,000 new customers (over 31 per cent of the Omani mobile market)
in just over 20 months of operations. During 2006, the Qtel also
grew its combined mobile customer base in Qatar and Oman to almost
1.5 million subscribers, an increase of over 55 per cent year-on-year.
Earlier this year, Qtel sealed the 'biggest ever telecommunications
deal in the Arab world' when it acquired 51 per cent of the share
capital of Kuwait-based National Mobile Telecommunications Company
KSC - (Wataniya) from Kuwait Projects Company for a total cash consideration
of US$3.8 billion.
ESI International provides professional business education and
consulting services covering a wide range of subjects, including
project management and business analysis. Their training courses
in public, e-training and onsite environments have helped some of
the most successful companies within Europe and the Middle East
to achieve and surpass their organisational goals.
ESI’s own credentials are beyond reproach. Accredited by the Project
Management Institute (PMI®), their portfolio of more than 60 courses
offers unique foundations in project management and business analysis
methodology and best practices. ESI is also a Charter Endorsed Education
Provider (EEP) of the International Institute of Business Analysis
(IIBA).
