Kik (Crispin) Piney PMP, PgMP

Crispin Piney, an instructor with ESI International, has developed and deployed technically advanced—and culturally complex—capabilities and services in both research and business environments for large multinational companies, advising on project management expertise enhancement throughout such organisations. Kik is one of the few in the world with the PgMP certification.

Over the last 20 years, Mr. Piney has had overall responsibility for a wide variety of projects ranging from designing and deploying one of the earliest multimegabit campus networks to successfully ensuring the full compliance of Compaq’s entire EMEA infrastructure with the requirements for Y2K in record time, to developing an initial plan for the integration of Compaq and Digital following their merger. During this time, he provided review and audit services for risky or failing projects and provided organisational proposals for the creation of a program office. In the last few years, Mr. Piney has been asked to develop training materials for major corporations and provide courses for educational institutions in support of a master’s syllabus.

Since he joined the research department of a major computer company in 1969, Mr. Piney has worked mainly in multicultural, cutting-edge environments, including the European Centre for Particle Physics (CERN) in Geneva and Digital Equipment Corporation in the United Kingdom and France.

Mr. Piney is well known for his ability to link the theory of project management to practical examples taken from his work experience and from everyday life. He is a lively speaker who generates enthusiasm and interaction in his audience. He has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Imperial College, London, and is an Associate of the Royal College of Science, London. He is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP®) by the Project Management Institute (PMI®) and is a member of the PMI® France chapter. He is bilingual in English and French.
