Derek Bell

Derek Bell, an instructor with ESI International, has had a varied career in the engineering and information technology industries. He has held the positions of principal engineer for computer-aided engineering at Land Rover and computer services manager for part of the Tarmac Group, among others.

For the past 12 years, Mr. Bell has provided project management support in the areas of consulting, training, and development as well as hands-on project management for many types of organisations.

Mr. Bell has been responsible for developing the project management environment for several major organisations, and has devised numerous training programmes to support the implementation of project management methods and the integrated use of applications such as Microsoft® Project, in which he is a recognised expert. In addition to project management training, Mr. Bell has experience in facilitating planning workshops, developing project management standards, templates, and procedures, and developing risk strategies.

He also is an experienced and lively lecturer who supports his messages with anecdotes based on his history of running projects in a variety of environments.

Mr. Bell holds a degree in mechanical engineering and has received an ISEB certificate in project management for information systems. He also is an APM professional, a PRINCE 2 practitioner, and an accredited PRINCE 2 trainer.
