New Course Builds Skills that Let Projects Bend not Break

Arlington, VA USA With the launch of ESI International's Agile Project Management course, project management professionals have an added resource for incorporating agile project management into their traditional organizational methods.

Particularly relevant in the current, volatile economic environment, agile project management is a must-have skill set for organizations seeking added flexibility for projects with elusive requirements, as in the IT industry. Those looking to quickly address such unanticipated variants as customer change requests and expedite products to market will also benefit from the technique. In fact, according to a 2008 VersionOne survey of more than 3,000 executives across 80 countries, agile delivered improved project visibility, improved alignment between IT projects and business, and even improved morale.

ESI's comprehensive two-day course builds such planning skills as risk management, estimating and cost minimization, while honing the participants' ability to appropriately select a traditional versus agile project management approach. Coursework also focuses on facilitating and leading co-located teams, enhancing processes to manage and adapt to change, and other essential elements of the agile discipline.

"Successful project delivery depends upon the agile readiness of an organization," said Nancy Y. Nee, PMP, Executive Director, Business Analysis & Project Management Programs for ESI. "Our Agile Project Management course was created to overcome business challenges by equipping project managers and team members with the leadership and collaboration skills they need to navigate projects efficiently using this non-linear approach."

The new course also includes an integrated case study, which allows participants to work through the life cycle of an agile project. Participants will experience an agile life cycle, and upon completing the simulation, they will have developed the skills to implement agile-based projects, as well as the capability to seamlessly incorporate the associated techniques into traditional project management solutions.
