(London, U.K. – Oct. 25, 2007) – ESI International
announced today the launch of its Programme Management Professional
Development Programme, the first of its kind in the industry. It
is designed to enable programme managers in business and government
to meet the increasing demands on programme management as a tool
to implement business strategies through an integrated portfolio
of projects. Professionals completing the curriculum will have the
skills and knowledge to ensure the successful delivery of multifaceted
initiatives that produce major business outcomes and drive organisational
change. It will also help them prepare for the Project Management
Institute’s new PgMP℠ certification.
While a successful project manager often focuses on completing
individual projects on time, on budget and to specifications, successful
programme managers need to think strategically about the impact
of multiple projects in relation to one another as well as how suites
of projects align to the organisation’s strategic initiatives. This
requires a broad range of skills in project management, business
and leadership.
The ESI curriculum includes a demanding mix of courses in programme
management; business skills; advanced project management; contract
management; and the PgMP℠ Exam Preparation class (to be released
in 2008). In addition to earning a Master’s Certificate in Programme
Management from ESI and The George Washington University, Washington,
participants will learn to:
- increase organisational success through effective
use of programme management;
- initiate and organise large-scale programmes to
implement, support and drive business strategy;
- manage stakeholder relationships;
- establish and implement programme governance; and
- ensure the realisation of programme goals and benefits.
"This curriculum will ensure our clients continue to stay
on the cutting-edge of programme management skills," said J.
LeRoy Ward, PgMP℠, PMP, executive vice president, ESI, "by enhancing
their programme managers’ skills and knowledge through a focus on
the business skills that make the difference between a competent
programme manager and one that is ready to tackle real business
problems from a strategic vantage point." Ward, one of only
32 people worldwide holding the PgMP℠ certification, led the design
of the curriculum architecture for ESI.
