Ericsson and ESI International PM Executives to Speak
London (3 Oct. 2008) A seminar featuring world renowned executives in project and programme management and entitled The Evolution of the Project & Programme Manager Strategies for Hard Times will take place on Friday, 31 Oct. at the Caf Royal, Regent Street, W1B 5EL, London.
The seminar, which forms part of ESIs ongoing series of free knowledge-sharing seminars, will feature presentations by J. LeRoy Ward, PMP, PgMP, executive vice president ESI International and special guest Steve Cray, director of programme & project management at Ericsson. This unmissable event will deal with the evolution of the project and programme manager, and is open to professionals in the field at every level. Specifically, the speakers will address the six essential skills required for personal and organisational success. The agenda also will review the results of the extensive independent research that identified these skills as crucial to success.
Cray will share his views on the topic and discuss the real world challenges he has faced during his 19-year career in project and programme management, including nine years at Ericsson where he has held a number of senior programme and project management positions. ESI has been Ericssons learning partner for more than seven years.
Organisations realise that in todays tough economic environment, delivering project success requires project and programme managers who not only have the technical know-how to get the job done, but also have the business skills critical for todays competitive and complex world a world of outsourcing, globalisation, full-matrix management with cross-functional virtual teams, and the incessant and rampant competition that underlies it all. This environment requires a different kind of project and programme manager to be successful. But what are those essential skills for individual professionals and the worlds largest corporations and government agencies?
Ward is an industry veteran with more than 30 years global project and programme management experience and is executive vice president responsible for ESIs worldwide product offerings and international partnerships. He has authored numerous books and articles, including the just released Dictionary of Project Management Terms, third edition. Ward was one of the first professionals in the world to earn the Project Management Institutes Programme Management Professional (PgMP) designation.
